Welcome to Plainsview

Welcome to Plainsview — We Are the Storm

At Plainsview, we believe a great school is about more than what happens in classrooms. It’s about creating a place where students feel known, supported and challenged to grow—academically, socially and personally.

Our motto, Being our best selves. Always., is the standard we set for ourselves and one another. It doesn’t mean being perfect. It means showing up, learning from mistakes, taking responsibility, treating people well and continuing to grow.

Our STORM Values bring that belief to life every day:

S — Strive to Grow
T — Tell the Truth
O — Offer Kindness
R — Respect Others & School
M — Make a Difference

Beyond The Classroom: There's Always Something Happening at Plainsview

Plainsview is a busy, vibrant school community—and we believe some of the best memories, connections and learning happen beyond the classroom.

Throughout the year, our students have opportunities to get involved, try something new, discover their strengths and be part of something bigger. From athletics, clubs and extracurricular activities to leadership opportunities, spirit events, celebrations and school-wide experiences, there are many ways for students to find their place in the Storm.

Being Our Best Selves. Always. We Are The Storm.

At Plainsview School, Being our best selves. Always. is more than our motto—it’s how we learn, lead and grow together.

Our STORM values guide us every day: Strive to Grow, Tell the Truth, Offer Kindness, Respect Others & School, and Make a Difference. We believe in high expectations, strong relationships and creating a school where every student feels valued, supported and challenged to become their best self.

Together, we take pride in who we are, how we treat one another and the difference we make.

We are the Storm.

School Community Council (SCC) - Stronger Together

Our School Community Council (SCC) is an important part of what makes Plainsview such an amazing school community.

Through their time, ideas, fundraising and support, our SCC helps create opportunities and experiences that make a real difference for our students. From supporting school initiatives and providing additional resources to helping bring special events and community-building activities to life, their impact can be felt throughout our school.

School Zone Traffic Safety

Motorists, please reduce your speed in school zones and obey all traffic signs. U-turns should only be performed in designated areas!!

Today, nearly three in four children are being driven to school. It’s important for motorists to drive with caution in school zones and for students to learn about road and pedestrian safety. According to a CAA study, parents with young children have reported the top two hazardous driving behaviours that motorists perform in a school zone are speeding and distracted driving. For more information, visit caask.ca/schoolzonesafety.

Absences Add Up!

Did you know?

  • Being on time for school sets your child up for a great day of learning.
  • Even in Kindergarten, absences can cause children to fall behind in their learning.
  • Missing 10 percent (or about 18 days) can make it difficult to learn to read – a critical future skill.
